NATURAL DESSERTS TO INCREASE CHILDREN'S HEIGHT
BOTTLE GOURD (LAUKI) KHEER
Ingredients
- ½ kg grated Bottle gourd
- 1 cup Sugar or to taste
- 1kg Milk
- ½ tsp Cardamom powder
- 2tbsp mixed dry fruits (Pistachios, Cashews, Almonds, Raisins)
Recipe Method
- Wash fresh Bottle gourd (Lauki) and taste a slice of Bottle gourd to ensure it is not bitter. Then peel and grate it.
- Combine the bottle gourd and milk in a non-stick pan / heavy bottom pan and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes till the bottle gourd is fully cooked.
- Add the sugar and cook till the sugar dissolves and the milk thickens.
- Add the cardamom powder and dry fruits mix well and refrigerate. Serve chilled.
- You can add ½ cups Condensed Milk or Milk Solid (Khoya) to make Kheer creamy and very rich, in this case reduce sugar.
POTATO (ALOO) KHEER
- 250 gm grated Potatoes
- 1 cup Sugar or to taste
- 1 ½ litre Milk
- ½ tsp Cardamom powder
- 2tbsp mixed dry fruits (Pistachios, Cashews, Almonds, Raisins)
Recipe Method
- Combine the grated Potatoes and milk in a non-stick pan / heavy bottom pan and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes till the Potatoes is fully cooked.
- Add the sugar and cook till the sugar dissolves and the milk thickens.
- Add the cardamom powder and dry fruits mix well and refrigerate. Serve chilled.

SAGO (SABUDANA) KHEER
Ingredients
- ½ cup Sago
- 4-5 tbls Sugar or to taste
- 3 cups Milk
- ½ tsp Cardamom powder
- 2tbsp mixed dry fruits (Pistachios, Cashews, Almonds, Raisins)
Recipe Method
- Put the milk, into a non-stick pan / heavy bottom pan, and bring to the boil. Add the sago (Sabudana) and return to the boil. Simmer, stirring, until the sago is fully cooked.
- Add the sugar and cook till the sugar dissolves and the milk thickens.
- Add the cardamom powder and dry fruits mix well and refrigerate. Serve chilled.
- You can add ½ cup Condensed Milk or Milk Solid (Khoya) to make Kheer creamy and very rich, in this case reduce sugar.
PUMPKIN (MITHA KADDU) KHEER
Ingredients
- 250 gm/1 cup Pumpkin (Red or Yellow)
- 1 liter Milk
- ½ cup Sugar or to taste
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- ½ tsp Cardamom powder
- 2 tbsp mixed dry fruits (Pistachios, Cashews, Almonds, Raisins)
Recipe Method
- In a non-stick pan / heavy bottom pan add grated Pumpkin and Ghee until Pumpkin is fully cooked.
- Add milk and sugar and cook till the sugar dissolves and the milk thickens.
- Add the cardamom powder and dry fruits mix well and refrigerate. Serve chilled.
