“My kid does not eat well” is quite a common complaint heard all over. Not getting sufficient food is a type of common eating disorder in kids. It is called as ‘anorexia’ in medical terms. The term anorexia means 'loss of appetite' or 'distaste for food. In extreme instances, the problem may get life threatening with physical and psychological ramifications. 2.Pomegranate juice, Honey, Rock salt
A glass of fresh pomegranate juice mixed with 1 tbs of honey and a pinch of rock salt should be sipped slowly to help stimulate appetite. Fresh pomegranate juice with honey works wonders for those lacking appetite.
3.Fresh Coriander Leaves Juice
Coriander juice helps in the release of gastric enzymes which in turn improve appetite. Take 1-2 tablespoons of fresh Coriander (dhaniya) leaves juice and give it to the child. You can also add a little Lemon juice and a pinch of Salt or Sugar to enhance the taste.
4.Asafoetida, Cardamom, Basil, Mint
Make a decoction by boiling 2-3 fresh or dried Mint (Pudina)stems with leaves, 7-9 basil (Tulsi) leaves, 3-4 cardamom and a pinch of Asafoetida (Hing) in one litre until reduced by half. Take 50 ml of it and mix some honey or sugar candy (Misri) powder to taste, give to the child three times a day.
5.Fresh Orange juice, Black salt, Black pepper
Mix well each of 1-2 pinches Black salt and Black pepper powders in a glass of fresh Orange juice. Give it to the child for about 1 week.
6.Pomegranate, Apple, Lemon, Mint Juices Syrup
Mix sweet Pomegranate juice 100 grams, Apple juice 250 grams, Lemon Juice 250 grams, Mint leaves juice 250 grams, Sugar candy 250 grams to make a syrup and give 2-3 tbs to the child.
7.Green Cardamom, Fennel, Cumin
Dry roast each of Green Cardamom (elaichi), Fennel Seed and Cumin (zeera) seeds in equal quantity just for 10 to 15 seconds. Now make a fine powder and store it in a glass container. Give it to the child 4 to 5 pinches along with water after every meal.
8.Fresh organic Yogurt/Curd, Mint/Basil paste
Mix ½ tsp Mint or Basil leaves paste in a cup of fresh organic Yogurt/Curd and 2 pinches each of black pepper and rock salt powders. Give it to the child daily along with every meal.
9.Resins/Dried Grapes
Soak10 gm Resins/dried Grapes in a glass of water at 4 pm, drink and eats this at bed time. This is very effective remedy to kindle the appetite even in children, aged etc.
10.Fresh Ginger, Milk, Water
Mix and boil100 ml of milk, 200 ml of water, 5 gm of fresh ginger until it becomes 100 ml. Filter and take it once a day in empty stomach. This will improve the appetite and digestion too.
White Sesame Seeds
Chewing 1 tsp White Sesame seeds before each meal is said to be beneficial in treating anorexia.
11.Butter Milk, Asafoetida
Blend 1 cup fresh organic plain Yoghurt/Curd and a pinch of Asafoetida in a glass of water until smooth. Transfer to glass then add each of 1-2 pinches of Rock Salt, Black pepper and roasted Cumin powders and stir to enhance the taste give this Butter milk (Lassi) to the child thrice a day after or before every meal for quick relief from anorexia.
12.Figs and Dates
Dried or fresh, Figs and Dates are commonly consumed to gain weight and help stimulate appetite.
13.Walnuts and Almonds
Walnuts and Almonds are a serious source of nutrients and also help improve emotional wellness. This can help treat the underlying emotional causes of anorexia.
14.Garlic Concoction
Garlic is another effective anorexia treatment. Boil three Garlic cloves in a cup of water. Let it to cool down and add ½ lemon juice to it and rock salt to taste. This recipe encourages a strong appetite and should be given to the child two times a day. Those suffering from anorexia should combine garlic with other ingredients to create a soup.
15.Ginger juice, Lime juice, Rock salt, Black pepper
One of the most popular home remedies for the treatment of anorexia is lime and ginger juice mixed with salt and black pepper. Mix ¼ teaspoon of ginger juice, ¼ teaspoon of lime juice, a small pinch of rock salt, and a black pepper. Take it after each meal. It will tone up the digestive system and improve the appetite.
